Friends of the Library
The Friends of the Library has just been organized in 2007.
Meetings are held on the second Thursday of the month at noon in the
Larchwood Library
Friends of the Library do the following:
 | Increase community awareness of library services |
 | Act as community advocates for the library |
 | Sponsors fundraising activities |
 | Provide the library with operational support |
Some suggestions for volunteer workers are to:
 | Adopt a Shelf or Adopt a Section (to clean and dust) |
 | Clean the library or Children's Room after April 10 |
 | Help with carpet cleaning |
 | Help with the Summer Reading Program |
 | Help setting up the annual Book Sale |
 | Help process Reading Counts books |
 | Help with computer search to determine Reading Counts books already owned
by the library |
The Friends of the Library has already paid for a new water heater and
installation in the library

Friends of Library Raised
Money for Water Heater |

|
| James Smith of DRG Mechanical,
Inc. disposed of the decrepit water heater that hadn’t worked for
several years. |

There are friends and then there are Friends! People in
this area think so much of the Larchwood Library, that even before the
postponed walking taco fundraiser was actually held, enough money had been
donated to the Friends of the Library, that the new water heater has
already been purchased. There are still needs to be addressed at the
library, though. Next to be replaced will be the library’s sinks and
toilets. The non-functioning, but still hooked-up heater, is the culprit
in ruining the sinks.
